We are currently on the field serving in Lima, Peru
First Term Report - December 1999 - January 2004
During our last four years in Peru, we have seen many deaf and hearing saved and baptized. Several parents of deaf children in our school have been saved. We have been actively involved in personal discipleship as well.
During the past term God has allowed us to do many things.
-
We started Salvation Baptist Church for the Deaf, in Lima, Peru in April, 2000, which we merged with Efata Church for the Deaf in November 2000, Thus creating Efata Baptist Church.
Bro. Vernon Miller, deaf missionary to the Deaf, under the leadership of the Holy Spirit, transferred the Efata Church and Efata Christian school over to my watchcare Sept. 2000. Due to this, we had to return to the States for a several months in 2001 to raise additional funds to maintain the ministry there.
We have planted a hearing church with a national pastor in Callao
We sent out our first Deaf missionary to Ayacucho, Peru through Efata Baptist Church.
We helped train a couple from Venezuela at Efata, who have started a deaf ministry in Caracas, Venezuela
We started Efata Christian Home for the Deaf; an orphanage for deaf children
We have ministered and helped train and challenge several churches and pastors to reach the Deaf in Peru, Venezuela, Bolivia, Ecuador and the United States.
We have conducted Pastor's Schools and Bible conferences to encourage and train national deaf pastors.
We established Faith Promise Mission’s Conferences and giving for Efata Baptist Church which is now supporting three national pastors/missionaries.
We have had two children born to us in Peru, Joy Rose and John Philip.
None of this would have been possible were it not for our faithful supporters and prayer partners. (Except for our children of course!) In addition, we thank the Lord for Bro. Vernon and Sister Velma Miller; deaf missionaries who went before us and set the ground work in place to make it possible for us to continue and grow such a vital ministry.
More importantly, we give thanks to God and His power and leading in our lives to count us worthy to serve him in this His Great Commission!
Today's Efata Ministries is an outgrowth and continuation of God’s work through willing servants to reach the Deaf with the Gospel! Thank you for your interest in this work. Please go to our Vision Page and look to the future with us as we await the Lord’s return!
